Comment from Daria Morozova on outcomes of the meeting of the humanitarian subgroup through videoconference

Comments and statements of the Ombudsman News

On 26 May, a regular meeting of the humanitarian subgroup on conflict settlement in Donbas was held. The event was through videoconference. At the meeting, participants discussed issues related to the results of the past exchanges between the DPR and Ukraine.
Unfortunately, the meeting didn’t yield any important results in connection with non-compliance of earlier achieved agreements by the Ukrainian side on procedural cleansing of people liberated in the course of the exchanges which took place on 29 December 2019 and 16 April 2020. Also, the representatives of Ukraine still don’t provide us with the information on places, where our supporters are held, and also on the health condition of detainees.
Moreover, the Ukrainian side refused to discuss the organization of humanitarian corridor for crossing the checkpoints by civilians in the case of acute need, which earlier were closed in connection with the coronavirus pandemic.
The official Kiev is seemed to sabotage on purpose any actions directed at the preparation of further exchanges and stabilization of the humanitarian situation in Donbas. I want to emphasize one more time that the DPR insists on the meaningful dialogue and waits for the concrete actions from Kiev.
