Charlotta Relander has working trip to DPR

The OSCE Coordinator of the Working Group on humanitarian issues of the Minsk Contact Group Charlotta Relander arrived on a three-day working visit to the Donetsk People’s Republic. In the course of the visit, a number of events are envisaged, during which Mrs. Relander plans to get acquainted in detail with the humanitarian problems of the region.

Thus, already today a working meeting of the coordinator with the Human Rights Ombudsman in the DPR, the representative of the DPR in the Minsk Humanitarian Group Daria Morozova took place. Also, with the assistance of the Ombudsman of the Republic, a meeting between Ms. Relander and relatives of persons illegally detained on the territory of Ukraine and missing in the zones of armed conflict was organized.

Also, Charlotta Relander intends to visit social infrastructure facilities in the frontline areas of the capital of the Republic, which were damaged and destroyed as a result of hostilities.

In addition, the action plan includes a visit to the forensic biological laboratory of the Republican Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination of the Ministry of Health of the DPR, where molecular genetic studies of the biomaterial of the missing relatives and subsequent comparative studies of the obtained samples with the genotypes of the remains exhumed from unmarked graves are carried out. At this stage, the laboratory is completing the installation of new equipment, which will significantly expand the possibilities of the Republic in the identification of unidentified bodies.

It should be noted that before Mrs. Relander visited the Luhansk People’s Republic. This is her first visit to the Donbass Republics since her appointment as the coordinator of the Humanitarian Group in the summer of 2021.
