Briefings and press conferences News

Today, Vitaly Osinsky, a former hostage and the DPR supporter, told about the atrocities of Ukrainian special services at the DAN news conference. The man spent 10 days in a clandestine prison in Ukraine.

“I was arrested on January 28, 2015 in Mariupol by unknown persons wearing masks. They took me to a basement, where the torture began. I asked for explanations, but they gave none “- Osinsky began the story.

According to the former prisoner, the guards repeatedly changed types of torture and abuse. “They handcuffed me, beat and suffocated. They put a gas mask on me and blocked the air, beat in the stomach and back, and put electric wires. They put a rag on my face and poured water, and when I choked, they turned me over so I did not suffocate to death”, – the man said.

He couldn’t find out where exactly in Mariupol was the prison. He remembers that a man called “Colonel” (nom de guerre) by the abusers conducted the process. They repeatedly asked about the family of the DPR supporter and threatened to kill his son.

“He was told that I have a small child. He said: bring him here, I’ll tear him before his eyes”, – recalls the former prisoner.

Osinsky spent 10 days in the basement. After that he was placed in the cell of Mariupol SSU. He did not take part in military operations, and he wasn’t told the official reasons for his detention. After some time, Osinsky was released to the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic as part of the  POWs exchange between Donetsk and Kiev.
