Actions of Azov outside Gorlovka contradict Geneva conventions and Minsk talks

Comments and statements of the Ombudsman Detention News

An attempt to break through the DPR line of defence by Ukrainian forces from the extremist formation Azov outside Gorlovka overnight into August 29 is contrary to international humanitarian law and the Minsk agreements. This was reported by the DPR Human Rights Ombudsman Daria Morozova.

“This incident not only violates international humanitarian law, but also breaks the Minsk agreements. Such sabotage actions by the Ukrainian side once again prove Kiev’s unwillingness to resolve the conflict peacefully, provoking escalation and renewing hostilities,” the Ombudsman noted.

We would like to remind that overnight into August 29 a sabotage group entered the military position of the DPR People’s Militia outside Gorlovka and started an armed provocation. As a result, one DPR serviceman died and another one was injured, three servicemen were taken prisoner by fighters from Ukrainian extremist organization “Azov”.
