On the eve of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Human Rights Ombudsman in the Donetsk People’s Republic announced an interactive painting competition “Victory Day through the eyes of a child” for schoolchildren in grades 3-6 of educational institutions of the Republic.

At the moment, accepting applications for participation in the competition is over. The Ombudsman received over 1000 drawings. Each child’s work is unique in its own way and contains its own story and vision of this truly significant day. The pictures of our little citizens show pride for the history and heroism of their nation, respect for the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, love for the Motherland. Some of them contained tragic notes about relatives who were not destined to meet the Victory. But the memory of their great feat is passed on from generation to generation, which is reflected in the paintings of the contestants.

Information about the winners will be published on 8 May on the Ombudsman’s website on the eve of the Great Victory Day. According to the results of the competition, the winners will be awarded prizes. In addition, some of the paintings will be displayed on a stand in the administrative building at the location of the Ombudsman.

Daria Morozova expresses gratitude to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Donetsk People’s Republic, educational institutions for their assistance in holding the competition and to all children who took part in the competition.
